The German SS Dagger was a standard accessory issued to all members of the elite and greatly-feared SS which functioned as Hitler’s personal bodyguard unit. The design of the SS daggers is quite striking and incorporates several examples of Nazi symbolism. Their design was based in part upon the German SA Daggers. Some of the prominent design features of all SS daggers include the distinctive SS symbol located at the top of the knife grip, the Nazi eagle holding a wreath containing the Nazi swastika in its talons, and the ebony wood grip which was typically dyed black (in later years oak was often used in place of ebony). The blade of an SS knife also was inscribed in the center with the SS motto “Meine Ehre Heist Treue” (My Honour is Loyalty). This motto was written in Gothic script. Due to the popularity of the SS Nazi dagger with WWII collectors many reproductions or fakes were produced. These were typically quite detailed and it takes a trained eye to distinguish between a well-made reproduction and an authentic Nazi SS dagger.

Richard Abr. Herder Partial Ground Röhm SS Dagger with Serial Number

SOLD!Here’s a really nice and very desirable Ernst Pack & Sohne (E.P.&S.) SS dagger with a ton of appeal! The grip is a real beauty, with hints of brown showing through the black when you turn it under the light. The surface has very few blemishes – only the usual ding or minor scratch here and there from normal use. There are no cracks or chips either, which is a real treat considering how susceptible these grips are to damage.

SS Dagger — RZM M7/80 Gustav C. Spitzer
SOLD!A bit salty, but still a very nice mid-period, uncleaned and unmessed with SS dagger by Gustav C. Spitzer. The grip is a nice deep chocolate color with shadows of black around the edges and in the grooves. I really like these deep brown grips. Something about them is just more appealing in my opinion. SOLD!This is a very nice, uncleaned WW2 Böker SS Dagger, acquired without a grip eagle from the son of the vet who brought it back from the war. Unfortunately, the son did not know why the eagle was removed, but evidence suggests it may have been replaced during war-time, and the replacement simply came loose and fell off. What you see is the result of carefully selecting a replacement eagle from the same period, and of the same metal and color as the original. The fit is very tight, and to the untrained eye, looks as if it is original to the dagger.
