Here’s a budget SS dagger from a very desirable maker, and a Ground Rohm to boot! If you’re in the market for an SS dagger, but have a tight budget, this is your chance to grab one priced to see with a ton of character that displays well!

The grip is is excellent condition, with only minor dings and scratches. The nickel grip eagle shows expected wear around the wreath and the most outward protruding areas of the eagle, but retains over 90% of its original detail. The SS roundal is almost flawless, with no missing enamel and only minor scratches noticeable under magnification. Both upper and lower nickel guards, as well as the pommel nut, are in superior condition!

The blade shows strong scratch marks on both sides (which is abnormal). On the reverse we would expect this with a field ground Rohm, but not on the front. Perhaps the soldier wanted a uniform look and chose to grind the front side as well? That is anyone’s guess. However, what is interesting about the grinding on the front is that they were careful not to upset the motto. If you review the photos you’ll see that the motto is almost completely untouched by the front-side’s grinding and retains almost 100% of the original factory gray darkening tone.

The scabbard is the anodized type (correct for this dagger) with a nice brown tone that goes very well with the grip tone. The scabbard body has a single ding but otherwise shows the normal slight oxidation that we see with this type of scabbard. Dings can be removed if you choose to do so. Contact us and we can point you in the direction of a professional we use. Aside from this, the nickel scabbard fittings show a uniform patina tone that matches the grip fittings, with only minor use wear and a slightly smashed tip ball.
