We have here a nice late-war RZM SS Dagger by maker code 941/39, which is attributed to Carl Eickhorn.
The grip on this SS Dagger is a nice deep black tone with several surface dings and scratches that only add to its character. The grip eagle has suffered from a few of these dings on parts of the wreath and a couple minor areas of the wings but the overall detail is still very stark! Both plated guards are in excellent condition, showing almost no signs of pitting that we typically see with these late war SS Dagger guards. Only under magnification can you even see any areas that are impacted. The pommel nut shows no chewing or “swirl” marks that would indicate the dagger was disassembled.
The blade is in nice condition overall, with a strong cross grain and a motto and maker’s mark that show the expected factory light gray toning. The only issue with this blade is a light “haze” across most of the blade. We’re not sure if this is permanent or can be removed. It appears to be surface level, but we make no guarantees. We do not typically clean our blade outside of a light wiping down with a soft cloth; we present them as-is.
The painted (which is correct) scabbard is in excellent condition, with the original factory paint covering 99% of the surface, and only minor use wear and scratches otherwise. The plated fittings are also in excellent condition with a nice round tip ball and all screws nice and tight, without signs of tampering.
This is overall a very nice dagger at a price that cannot be beat!
