Here’s a nice, yet budget priced unmarked Luftwaffe dagger with the popular orange grip color, uncleaned and ready for a permanent home in your collection!
The grip has that nice deep orange tone with a faded strip of lighter tone on one side from sun exposure. We see this quite often with these darker grips so most collectors expect it. The braided wire wrap is nice and tight and has toned well over the years to a pleasing deep gray color.
The grip fittings have a nice medium gray tone with years of surface patina that we love to see; it says the previous owner didn’t mess with it. The eagle detail is about 95%, with use wear in the typical areas of the eagle’s head, wings, feet and bottom half of the Swastika. The pommel cap has retained nearly 100% of its original factory detail, but has lost the gilding on the Swastika like most second model Luftwaffe daggers.
The scabbard shares a similar medium gray tone as the grip fittings, and has some minor surface oxidation spotting from age, which is normal.
Moving to the blade we see a fairly nice unmarked blade with fine crossgraining and only a few areas of oxidation, mainly focused on the tip area. The original leather buffer pad is still in place inside the recess of the gross guard.
