A real beauty here! A WKC Solingen Heer German Army Dagger, with the popular “tomahawk” style guard.
The deep amber grip is a real screamer, with no flaws whatsoever, just a nice shine and a great color. The silver plated fittings look like they just came off the manufacturer’s floor. It takes a magnifying glass to see any flaw with the guard, ferrule ring or the pommel cap, above a few normal (and tiny) scratches. The detail is 100%, and the grip fit is tight – as it should be.
The blade is extremely nice on this one as well. It was stored properly since the war, which has helped keep moisture from damaging the blade’s surface. There is some minor scabbard rash, which is expected, and a few very minor dull-tone age spots, but otherwise a nice strong cross grain and a mirror-like reflective shine that we love to see. There is one spot on the blade that we need to point out, only noticeable in the right lighting. About half the way down one side of the blade it appears as if there was an impact ding to the edge – about one quarter inch in length. It is minor, and does not detract from the appeal of the dagger overall in our opinion.
The scabbard shows the same level of quality and detail as the rest of the piece, with the only notable issue being a fairly strong impact ding about a quarter of the way up from the top on one side of the scabbard. We do not repair these, but I know it can be done if the new owner chooses to do so.
An overall high quality example Heer Dagger at a discount price due to the scabbard ding. Snatch this up now because it won’t last long at this price.
