Early SA Dagger by maker C.G. Haenel Suhl
A truly exceptional early example of an SA Dagger by the C.G. Haenel firm. It doesn’t get much better than this in terms of overall quality. From handle to tip this is a real screamer! The nice walnut grip on this dagger shows some of the most striking grain of any SA daggers out there. Very few dings or scratches can be found on the surface, and no notable cracks.

From handle to tip this is a real screamer! The nice walnut grip on this dagger shows some of the most striking grain of any SA daggers out there. Very few dings or scratches can be found on the surface, and no notable cracks. The nickel grip eagle shows over 95% of her original detail. The roundel shows age patina and some oxidation, but is still very clear and the “SA” logo very prominent. Both upper and lower guards show a gorgeous heavy patina and build-up, proving that this one has not been cleaned in decades. No swirl marks or chewing to the pommel nut either, indicating an unopened, and always assembled dagger, which we love to see!
The blade is stunning; there’s no other way to describe it! One of the cleanest blades we’ve seen, and with the nice darkened motto and maker’s mark. This dagger was loved, being properly stored since the war as to not cause moisture pitting or damage like we see all too often with daggers.
The scabbard is just a nice as the dagger, showing a patina to the nickel fittings that matches the guards. The anodized scabbard looks almost as good as it likely did during the war, with that metallic copper reflection when in the right lighting. There are no dings or dents in the scabbard, save some minor damage to the tip ball, which is typical. All screws are nice and tight with no signs of having ever been removed.
