An absolutely stunning example of a Silver Grade Wound Badge here by maker number “92”, Josef Ruckert & Sohn.

This wound badge has managed to retain all of it’s original silver wash, which is somewhat rare since many of these badges were constructed using a zinc base metal. Zinc tends to erode the finish over the decades, but not in this case. All of the original factory detail can still be enjoyed with this example.

On the reverse we see the “92” maker mark, attributed to Josef Ruckert & Sohn. The pin is still nice and tight (springy) and can very easily be unhinged from the hook catch.

The original case shows normal shelf wear with the paper hinge having worn over the year from being opened and closed. These paper hinges were never meant to last, but thankfully the hinge alone does not attach the lid to the base. You can still open and close the lid just fine thanks to the piece of white fabric on the interior, which acts as a secondary hinge.

On the bottom of the case is the blue manufacturer sticker labelled, “Hauptmünzamt Wien III.”
