This WW2 Pumawerk SA Dagger came in a set with another identical dagger directly from the vet’s Niece. Both show very similar wear, and both are from the same period, bearing the same Pumawerk RZM M7/27 mark.
This particular World War 2 SA Dagger is in overall excellent shape. The wood grip is smooth and without chips or cracks, and retains its original color and luster. The metal fittings are tarnished, but not pitted or peeling in any way. The pommel nut shows no signs of having ever been removed. The aluminum eagle is shiny and crisp. The SA roundel is dark from age, but still shows about 75% of its detail.
The scabbard is in amazing condition, perhaps the nicest I’ve seen personally. The paint is 99%, with only a few very minor small nicks. The metal fittings are tarnished, but no notable pitting, corrosion or rust. All screws are accounted for and the hanger loop and hanger clasp are attached.
The blade is in near perfect condition. There are a couple of spots with what appears to simply be dirt (rubs off with the finger). Otherwise both sides show only scabbard wear.
The theory about this set is that the vet acquired them from a factory so this German Dagger may well have never been issued.

Hi Tony. Thanks for posting. These daggers are becoming more and more common as the years go by, with family members uncovering them as our fathers and grandfathers pass on. Still, SA daggers are very unique and collectible daggers. I will need to see photos showing the entire length of both sides of each dagger and scabbard (blade exposed). Once I see the photos I can give you an estimate. And yes, we are always interested in purchasing SA daggers, as well as all other dagger types.
Thanks again!
Darren
Tony –
I have 2 of these my father left me. I gave my oldest brother a different dagger that my father took off a german general, and I did not see it on your front page. They are in good shape, wood handles are perfect, blade is not chipped, tiny rust on handle metal may come off but I did not attempt it. What type of value may I be looking at? Do you have any interest in them?
