Luftwaffe Gravity Knife by SMF Solingen

Here’s a really nice SMF made Luftwaffe Gravity knife with a blade that can’t be beat!
This is an exceptional example with a very nice amount of wear to the wood – not too much, not too little. Collectors like these gravity knives to have at least some use wear to them (not too minty) and this one has just the right amount.
The wood plates show some use dings and scratches, but no cracks and no chips or severe gouges. Just a nice even tone with hints of darker spots where dirt and grime worked its way into the dings and wood grain from wartime use.
The plated metal parts have aged extremely well, still nice and shiny with only hints of wear. The spring loaded thumb release is nice and firm (as expected) and releases the blade with a flick of the wrist (also as expected). When depressed again gravity does its job with this handy knife and the blade falls nicely back into the weapon’s body. The pick also extends and retracts with the expected firmness.
Reviewing the blade we can see some slight age tone but otherwise barely a flaw to note. We see a strong cross grain and a nice light gray tone SMF makers mark near the base of the blade.
All of the marked parts are matching where numbered, and the expected benchmark and waffenamt stamps present.
