Here’s one for the budget collector. Not a perfect example, but priced to sell, this uncleaned Tiger Heer Dagger will make a budget conscious collector a very nice display piece.

The grip is an eligent mid-tone orange, with an even deeper tone to the inset ridges. There are a couple of chips and hairline cracks, but the grip is in one piece. There is a small one-quarter inch by one-eighth inch chip near the pommel cap, and another larger chip where the grip enters the ferrule ring, with most of the chipped section hidden beneath the ferrule ring. The silver plated fittings are a bit loose around the grip, possibly remedied with a makeshift shim. The plating on the fittings is 100%, with only modest use wear to the pommel cap (no major dings), and almost no wear at all to the guard eagle. The detail of the eagle is 100% – one of the most detailed we’ve seen in a while. The guard’s reverse is nice and smooth, with the exception of the personalized initials “J. L.”

The blade shows quite a lot of haze from long-term moisture exposure. We see this a lot with these dagger blades unfortunately. The “Tiger Solingen” maker’s mark, with their iconic tiger logo can be clearly seen on the blade’s reverse, just beneath the cross guard.

The scabbard is a matching silver plated type, with tone and detail that matches the grip fittings. There is a little more surface oxidation to the scabbard that typical, but not uncommon. No dings or dents can be seen, which is a definite plus since these scabbards were banged around quite a lot when worn in service.
