The deep orange grip is so clean and shiny it could be mistaken as being glass. Aside from a couple very small chips where the swirl pattern meets the pommel cap, the grip is flawless. The chips I speak of aren’t more than an eighth of an inch and hardly noticeable if you don’t know where to find them.
The silver plated grip fittings show very little use wear, and would rate at least a 9 on a 10 scale in terms of detail retention. In fact, the pommel cap is what we would consider “mint” condition. Where most pommel caps we see have several impact dings and scratches, there are none to note on this one. The grip eagle is stunning, with a nice deep gray patina to the recessed areas, and an almost golden brown hue to the high detail areas.
The blade is gorgeous, with only some minor spotting. The cross grain is strong throughout, and the “Original Eickhorn Solingen” logo is a very nice medium gray tone that contrasts nicely against the reflective, mirror-like surface of the blade.
The scabbard’s quality and condition are what we expect from an Eickhorn Heer Dagger. Silver plating throughout, with no notable oxidation, rust or corrosion to speak of. The only flaw with the scabbard is a slight impact ding about a third of the way from the tip on one side of the scabbard.
