We don’t see these F. W. Holler Heer Daggers pop up too often, but we love it when they do. We don’t see these F. W. Holler Heer Daggers pop up too often, but we love it when they do. Like the Eickhorn firm, Holler knows how to produce a quality dagger, and this 100% all matching, original example is no exception.

The medium orange grip is a real eye catcher, with its defined ribs and almost perfect transition into the ferrule ring. The grip is without chips or cracks, and is uncleaned; evident by the dust and dirt in the grooves of the swirls. This is what we like to see – nice and untouched. The silver plated fittings all have a very nice deep patina, with hints of silver popping through on the guard just around the ferrule ring – absolutely stunning! The pommel cap’s oak leaves, and eagle’s detail are 98%, with only very minor signs of use.

The blade on this example shows some minor spotting in places, and what we believe to be set-in dirt. We generally do not clean our blades, we only wipe them down with a soft cloth if needed. We leave any cleaning to the buyer since some collectors will view anything more than a wipe-down as taboo. The “F. W. Holler Solingen” maker mark is a very nice deep gray tone, that is crisp and prominent against the silver background of the blade.

Last, but not least, the scabbard. Like the grip fittings, the scabbard has a very nice, deep toned patina to the silver plating, with a reflective shine that just sets the whole dagger on fire when in the right lighting. There are no dings, dents, oxidation, corrosion or rust showing on any part of the scabbard – truly one of the nicest, most well preserved scabbards we’ve seen on a German army dagger. The dagger-to-scabbard fit is nice ant tight.
