This is a nice, early SA dagger by hard to find maker Kuno Ritter, Solingen with solid nickel upper and lower guards, pommel nut, and scabbard fittings.

The grip on this one has a very nice medium brown wood tone (a very elegant color) with what appears to be a period applied thin lacquer coating. The grip eagle retains 100% of its original detail, and the SA roundel is 100% as well. There is a very small ding/chip on the top right, near the upper crossguard, hardly worth noting. Otherwise, overall there are only minor surface dings and scratches from use. The solid nickel guards are in fantastic condition, with the only notable issue being that the upper guard appears to have the same lacquer applied as the grip, but has mostly worn away over time. The new owner may choose to remove the remaining coating (if indeed that is what we’re seeing) entirely, but we generally leave these daggers as we receive them so we’re selling it as-is. (note: the lower guard has no signs of any coating).

The scabbard is the anodized type, with much of the color having faded over the years, leaving behind a nice silver-gray tone. Solid nickel scabbard fittings have a nice patina, matching the guards, with only standard use wear. As we typically see with these SA daggers, the tip ball has an impact ding (see photos). This dagger also comes with it’s early solid nickel hanger (long clasp).

This dagger’s blade is in fine condition structurally, with the normal runner marks but above average surface spotting. It should be clear that the spotting you see on this blade cannot be felt on the surface, so if one were so inclined, this is likely a good dagger for professional restoration. The motto and Kuno Ritter Solingen makers mark retain their dark tone, and are 100% intact.

Overall a nice, hard to find Kuno Ritter dagger, at a blowout price.
