This World War 2 Pumawerk SA Dagger came in a set with another identical dagger directly from the vet’s Niece. Both show very similar wear, and both are from the same period, bearing the same Pumawerk RZM M7/27 mark.

This particular German Dagger is in overall great shape, but unlike its partner this one has a couple issues. The wood grip is smooth and without chips or cracks, and retains its original color and luster. The metal fittings are tarnished, but not pitted or peeling in any way. Beneath the tarnishing is a very shiny finish. The pommel nut shows no signs of having ever been removed, although at some point light green paint was dripped onto the nut, but could easily be removed if desired. The SA roundel’s detail is almost completely lost, with only about 5% of the detail remaining. The aluminum eagle is shiny and crisp.

The scabbard is in amazing condition, perhaps the nicest I’ve seen personally. The paint is 99%, with only a few very minor small nicks. The metal fittings are tarnished, but no notable pitting, corrosion or rust. All screws are accounted for and the hanger loop and hanger clasp are attached.

The blade shows heavy corrosion on the side with the motto. The reverse shows only minor corrosion, but otherwise is in very desirable condition.

The theory about this set is that the vet acquired them from a factory so this SA Dagger may well have never been issued.
