Here’s a nice hard to find late-war 1943 version Heer (Army) Paratrooper Badge by Juncker. This one has the flat “C” catch, still firmly in place and with more than enough gap to unhinge the pin. The pin hinge is the more narrow type, which is also characteristic of these later manufactured zinc based paratrooper badges. The silver finish of the eagle is approximately 90%, and the gold finish of the wreath is nearly 100% front and back. The fact that the finish is so strong is also a direct reflection of the level of fine detail that still remains in the features of the wreath and eagle. Many of these WW2 German Fallschirmjäger badges are found with much, if not all, of their original finish lost to time, as well as a significant amount of wear, so finding one in this condition is particularly challenging.
