    Late 1800s Hunting / Forestry Cutlass

    The overall condition of this late 1800s Forestry Cutlass, or sometimes referred to as simply a German hunting knife, is superb! The stag grip is without flaw, sporting three acorn devices. The hoof design cross guard leads into the clamshell, which shows a very ornately carved design of what I believe is an Elk.

    Deluxe Subordinate Forestry Knife (Cutlass) with Frog

    This is a nice, uncleaned, unmessed with Deluxe model Subordinate Forestry Cutlass (also referred to as a Forestry knife, or dagger) with a stunning amount of the original gilded finish throughout, including the scabbard fittings. This was acquired along with an SA High Leader dagger (see the SA Daggers category), both discovered in an old shadow box frame when the veteran passed away.

All brass fittings, thick (and tough) leather scabbard, beautifully triple-etched hunting motif blade — what’s not to love about these German hunting knives? The heavy stag grip is adorned with three brass acorns along the length of the front, and skillfully fit with a brass ferrule ring and pommel cap, complete with upside-down acorn “nut” atop the cap…
