This hard to find visor cap could be attributed to either a Justiz (Justizwachmeisters) NCO or a Prison Official. The visor cap is of high quality construction and features a dark green doeskin wool with light green piping and black wool band.
On the front is the near mint original aluminum eagle, and original cockade. Beneath the cockade is the original chin strap that may have been lacquered as is seen with other period leather items such as belts. The visor bill shows normal wear along the rim from repeated removing and placing of the visor on the wearers head.
The underside of this Justice Official visor cap shows some honest “been there” dirt and grime. The sweat band is stained from wartime use, as is the interior cloth, but is solid. There is a small section (about 3 inches) where the sweat band thread has come loose, but does not affect it visually. The plastic of the diamond insert is torn, but the Franz Bruckner maker’s mark is still 100%. Along the sweat band is also the embossed mark, “Deutsches Leder”.
This is by no means a “minty” example, but it is certainly an honest piece with visible history, and a very difficult to find cap to boot!
