We have here a hard to find SA dagger by maker Gebruder Heller, Schmalkalden in very desirable condition overall!

The grip is in very nice condition with mostly typical use wear. The only noteworthy issues with the grip is a scuffed area on the front between the SA roundel and the eagle, and a very discrete (tiny) crack just above the roundel (which is fairly typical). The SA roundel is 100%, and the grip eagle still embodies 98% of it’s original detail. The solid nickel guards are in fantastic condition, save what appear to be a couple impact dings to the top crossguard (see photos). Each guard shows a small amount of verdigris, and an even patina matching the grip eagle and scabbard fittings, which we love to see! The pommel nut does not show any signs of having been removed, which supports what we’re seeing regarding the verdigris and matching patina (i.e. this dagger appears to have never been cleaned or taken apart).

The scabbard is the anodized type and does show typical oxidation (pretty uniform on both sides), giving the scabbard a nice coppery glow under the right lighting. The throat and tip fittings are in fine condition, showing the same patina coloring as the guards, with minimal (hardly worth mentioning) dings and scratches. As with most of these SA scabbards, the tip ball does have some minor impact damage.

The blade is in beautiful condition when compared to many SA dagger examples. It shows the normal runner marks, but very minimal oxidation, mainly at the base of the blade near the lower guard. The motto and “Gebruder Heller” mark are both crisp and dark (almost black), which stand out wonderfully on the blade.
