Early Boker SS Dagger — Böker Solingen

Here’s a really nice, early Boker SS dagger with anodized scabbard and nickel fittings. The grip on this Boker show honest use wear, but no more than is typical and expected. Here’s a really nice, early Boker SS dagger with anodized scabbard and nickel fittings.

The grip on this Boker show honest use wear, but no more than is typical and expected. There is one very tiny chip (about an 8th of an inch) on the left side of the SS roundel where the wood meets the upper guard. The guard fittings are nice and tight against the ebony grip, with a light verdigris where the wood and nickel meet, implying that the dagger has not been cleaned or taken apart. The pommel nut also shows no signs of having every been removed, which supports this assumption. On the lower guard you can find the roman numeral “I” stamped at roughly center on the guard. The nickel grip eagle has retained at least 90% of its detail, and also has a light verdigris where the metal meets the wood. On a personal note, I like to see the verdigris as it typically implied that the dagger has not been messed with — and also adds to it’s “aged” look.

The black anodized scabbard is perhaps the most loved version of the SS dagger scabbards, and this one is in exceptional condition! We can see the normal “veining” typically found on these anodized scabbards, as well as some modest surface scratches and a couple of very minor dings. The nickel fittings are in fantastic condition, with only normal use wear. The tip ball is almost perfect, with only a very minor impact dent on the very top of the ball (not noticeable from the side view). All fitting screws are present and completely seated, with no evidence of having been removed, or attempted removal.

Last, but not least, the blade. The blade on this dagger is nice (to say the least). You have the normal scabbard runner marks, but otherwise just a few surface ghost spots — no corrosion marks or severe water damage on this one. Both sides of the blade have a very pronounced cross grain. The Boker maker mark is dark and crisp, as is the motto, Meine Ehre Heisst Treue (My Honor is Loyalty). There scabbard fit over the blade is nice and smooth, with a firm fit and tight seat against the lower guard.
